The "Blue Collar" Documentary Series
This documentary series reflects on a diminishing
sector of the industrial age, the blue collar worker. The photographs
portray a metal spinner making a part at the American Aluminum
Company in Mountainside, New Jersey. The series shows the human
element, heat, muscle power and tactile experience, required
to craft a metal part. In todayÍs service-based economy, much
of the labor base is being transferred to the Third World. The
intent of this project is to preserve and document a single
American craftsmanÍs work through imagery.
The series is scanned into a computer, cropped,
color corrected, and printed on 22" X 30" Archers
Cover 100% rag paper with a large format ink jet printer (Gicleé).
